Modifications

SWMJCC MODIFICATIONS TO CJCC STAGE 3 PLAYING CONDITIONS FOR 30, 35 & 40 OVER MATCHES.

1 FIELDING RESTRICTIONS

1.1 Ground set-up: The ground will be marked with a fielding restriction area (“the ring”) as follows:

a) Two semi-circles are marked on the field of play, with the semi-circles centred on the middle stump of each end of the pitch;

b) The radius of each of the semi-circles will be 30 meters;

c) The ends of each semi-circle are joined to the other end semi-circle;

d) “The ring” should be marked with at least 10 flat field markers;

e) “The ring” markers should be of a distinctive colour, preferably white and preferably not green or red.

1.2 Fielding:

a) Each of the bowling innings formats will be split into two portions of play, the “first ten overs” and “the rest of the innings” (over 11 to end of innings);

b) In the “first ten overs” overs, a minimum of 2 fielders must be positioned on the boundary (known as “boundary riders”) when the bowler commences their run-up to bowl each ball;

c) During the “first ten overs” all fielders except the two “boundary riders” must be positioned inside “the ring” when the bowler is at the commencement of his run up;

d) In the overs bowled for “the rest of the innings”, there must be a minimum of 4, and a maximum of 5, “boundary riders” when the bowler commences their run-up to bowl each ball (i.e. for clarity, it is the decision of the fielding Captain whether they have the minimum of 4 or the maximum of 5 “boundary riders” positioned on the boundary for each ball of the “rest of the innings” overs);

e) During the “rest of innings” overs, all fielders intended to be fielders within “the ring” must be positioned inside “the ring” at the commencement of the bowlers run up for each ball (i.e. for clarity, this means that fielders can’t be positioned just outside “the ring” with the intent to rush in to field the ball inside “the ring”. All inside the ring fielders must start their position inside “the ring” when the bowler is at the commencement of his run up);

f) It is solely for the Umpires to confirm and decide whether the fielding restrictions are being observed correctly;

g) If either umpire observes that the fielding side has failed to comply with these fielding restrictions, then on the first instance of any innings they should:
i) The central umpire should advise the Captain of the fielding team that this is an unfair practice; and
ii) In addition, the Captain should be “warned” that this is the first and final warning for that innings and any further failure to comply with the fielding restrictions in that innings may be reported to the SWMJCC P&D Tribunal;

h) If either umpire observes that the fielding side has failed to comply with these fielding restrictions on a second and any subsequent occasion in any one innings, and after being warned by the central umpire on the first occasion (as per above requirement), then either umpire should immediately:
i) Call and signal “no ball”; and
ii) The Central umpire should record the time, over and ball, the bowler and Captains names at the time and note whether in their opinion the non-compliance was deliberate or accidental and wherever necessary report the incident to the SWMJCC for actioning with the SWMJCC P&D Tribunal.
